UNDERWATER ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE GULF OF MEXICO with DR. JOSEPH COZZI

The waters in and around the Gulf of Mexico contain archaeological deposits that date from early Na ve Americans up through shipwrecks involved in the explora on, coloniza on and industrializa on of North America. Recent discoveries, like the LaSalle Shipwreck in Texas and the Emanuel Point Ships in Florida, are portals to speci c days in the past when ambi ous human endeavors ended tragically. Dr. Cozzi, who directed eldwork on these projects, will share his experiences and place this research in the context of the history of Florida, the United States and the world.

MAYAN ARCHAEOLOGY with DR. ANTHONY ANDREWS

Professor Andrews is a widely published Maya archaeologist and enthnohistorian who has done extensive eld work in Mexico and Central America. In addi on to archaeology and physical anthropology, he supervises studies in ecological anthropology, La n American ethnography, eth- nohistory, and urban anthropology. He is author and co-author of several books and monographs in both English and Spanish.
