Update from Historic Spanish Point in regards to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
(Updated March 17, 2020 at 8:45am)
In response to recent news about Coronavirus (COVID-19), Historic Spanish Point is taking active steps for the health and safety of our visitors and staff.
Dear Friends of Historic Spanish Point,
We are committed to the health and well-being of our visitors, volunteers, and staff. With new information from local, state, and national leaders, we have made the difficult decision to close Historic Spanish Point to the public effective March 17, 2020 until further notice. We will closely monitor the situation and announce when we will reopen at a future date.
This decision was considered very carefully, and is in line with other arts and cultural institutions throughout the region. As a nonprofit with no direct federal, state, or county funding, we depend largely on museum admission, events, and donations to help us preserve and protect over 29-acres of history on Little Sarasota Bay. If you would like to help us during this challenging time, please consider making a gift to Historic Spanish Point here.
We invite you to follow us on Facebook and our website, where we will continue to share the beauty of our museum grounds and any updates as they become available.
We thank you for your incredible support of Historic Spanish Point. Even as we distance ourselves in physical space, we hope to stay together in our hearts.
