Get the most out of your visit
Historic Spanish Point is an expansive outdoor archaeological and historic museum. A few tips for getting the most out of your visit:
Allow plenty of time. Take a relaxing hour-long stroll, or spend a morning or afternoon exploring the entire site. We recommend bringing a camera to capture all the beautiful surrounding during your visit.
Dress comfortably. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes. Our site is a combination of sun and shade; a hat and sunscreen is always a good idea outdoors.
Consider taking a tour. Our docent-led tours are designed to help you explore and discover the rich history of the site. Tour information is available below.
Four great ways to dig deeper
Our volunteer docents offer three ways to help you learn about the 5,000 years of human history at Historic Spanish Point. We recommend calling our Visitor Center for details on tour times and availability: (941) 966-5214.
Walking tours are FREE with admission.
Tram tours are $5 per person, after admission.
Please note: Tram Tours do involve some walking and standing. Please contact our Visitor Center for accessibility questions: (941) 966-5214.

Historic Spanish Point is committed to making our experiences accessible to all who visit; however, due to the historic nature of the museum, some areas may present challenges to persons with disabilities. There are designated accessible parking spaces in the parking areas. Service dogs providing assistance for visitors with disabilities are permitted anywhere on the property.
The primary paths around the site are paved, but many secondary, historic paths are shell material. All buildings on our property are wheelchair accessible, with the exception of the second floors of Guptill House and White Cottage. Mary’s Chapel is also not wheelchair during standard operating hours. A wheelchair ramp is available for Mary’s Chapel during special events and weddings by request.
We recommend that visitors bring their own wheelchair or mobility cart to Historic Spanish Point. However, we do offer usage of our two available wheelchairs free of charge; please call ahead to reserve: (941) 966-5214.
Inclement Weather Policy
There are no general admission refunds due to inclement weather. However, Historic Spanish Point reserves the right to close for safety during extreme weather conditions. If this occurs, we will issue passes for a one-day admission to anyone already inside the museum site. Individual ticketed events have their own rain policies, and those will be displayed on specific event pages.
